Neurological Rehabilitation

Neurological Rehabilitation plays in important role in the recovery of patients who have suffered from the effects of neurological damage caused by traumatic brain injury or stroke. The Neurological Rehabilitation program at Medical City Denton is the only one of its kind in the area that provides a comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach to rehabilitation. Therapists from multiple disciplines work together to develop a plan of therapy that seeks to integrate patients back into the community at the highest possible level of functioning.

BIG and LOUD Treatment for Parkinson’s Disease

Medical City Denton offers the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment BIG and LOUD treatment programs for people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) and other neurological conditions. LSVT is an evidence-based treatment protocol with over 25 years of research support. This interdisciplinary program uses physical, occupational and speech therapy to help patients recalibrate how they perceive their vocal strength, and physical strength and movement. The LSVT program can help all patients in all stages of PD.

Primary Stroke Center

The Joint Commission, in conjunction with The American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association, recently recognized Medical City Denton with Advanced Certification for Primary Stroke Centers. Achievement of Primary Stroke Center Certification signifies an organization’s dedication to fostering better outcomes for patients. Medical City Denton’s Primary Stroke Center Certification has demonstrated that their program meets critical elements of performance to achieve long-term success in improving outcomes for stroke patients.

Developed in collaboration with the American Stroke Association and launched in 2003, The Joint Commission's Primary Stroke Center Certification program is based on the Brain Attack Coalition's "Recommendations for the Establishment of Primary Stroke Centers." Certification is available only to stroke programs in Joint Commission-accredited acute care hospitals.
